Helping Children Cope with Anxiety in an Uncertain World

Research indicates that as many as 20% of school-aged youths could be diagnosed with anxiety disorders. If left untreated, childhood anxiety often exerts its influence across the lifespan. Dr. Eisen will provide information about the nature, assessment, and evidence-based treatment of anxiety and its disorders in children and adolescents. The presentation will emphasize education, intervention, and prevention. More importantly, an overview of cognitive-behavioral coping strategies that can be implemented with youth in a variety of settings will be provided. 

Andrew R. Eisen, Ph.D. is a Professor in the School of Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University and the Co-Director of the Child Anxiety & Related Disorders Clinic. Dr. Eisen’s clinical and research interests include child anxiety and related problems, ADHD, learning issues, and autistic spectrum disorders, with an emphasis on developing individualized treatments for these populations. Dr. Eisen has presented widely, published numerous articles and chapters and has co-authored or co-edited seven books including, Helping your socially vulnerable child, Helping your child with separation anxiety or school refusal, and Treating childhood behavioral and emotional problems: A step-by-step evidence-based approach. He maintains a private practice in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey.
