REGISTER TO VOTE:
If you would like to receive a stamped, self-addressed mail voter registration form, please contact the Essex County Board of Elections.  You may also download the forms at http://www.essexclerk.com/Forms

The deadline to register to vote in the January 28, 2020 election is January 7, 2020.

VOTE BY MAIL:

In New Jersey, any voter can vote by mail. You do not need a reason to vote by mail. Will you be out of town or can't get to the polls? Simply vote by mail.

The deadline to apply by mail is January 21, 2020. Get the application form here:  https://nj.gov/state/elections/assets/pdf/forms-vote-by-mail/vote-mail-ballot-essex-english.pdf

As an Essex County resident, you may apply for a mail-in ballot if you are a qualified and registered voter by written application to the County Clerk's Office. The deadline for such requests is seven (7) days prior to any and all elections (Primary, General, Municipal, School, etc.). The voter may also apply in person to the Clerk's office, or by authorized messenger, on any day up to 3:00 P.M. the day before an election.

The County Clerk cannot accept faxed or e-mailed copies of the Vote by Mail Application (unless you are an overseas voter, see below), since an original signature is required.

What you must do

  • Send completed application to PO Box 690, Newark, NJ 07101-0690; OR
