School Budget 2011-2012

Welcome to School Budget 2011-2012
Important Dates in the School Budget Calendar
At the Board of Education meeting on Monday, February 13, 2012 the Millburn Board of Education approved a resolution that moves the annual school election from April to November. The passage of this resolution was in response to P.L. 2011, c. 202 which allows school districts to move the date of the election of school board members and public questions to spend in excess of 2% tax levy cap from April to the General Election in November. There will be no School Budget Election in April 2012.

Election of school board members will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Candidates must file their nomination petition with the Eva Yanez, Essex County Clerk’s Office, P.O Box 690, Newark, NJ 07101 in order to have their name on the ballot for the Annual School election. The deadline to submit the nomination petition is on or before 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Candidates are strongly advised to deliver their petitions in person to the Essex County Clerk’s Office. For more information, candidates may contact the Clerk’s Office at (973) 621-4921.

Prospective school board candidates can obtain a “School Board Candidate Kit” online at www.njsba.org. Published by the New Jersey School Boards Association, the School Board Candidate Kit includes a nominating petition, information about legal qualifications for school board candidacy and the role of the school board member. Information about the New Jersey School Ethics Act and important dates in the school election process are also included in the kit.

The County Clerk cannot accept faxed or e-mailed copies of the Vote by Mail Application (unless you are an overseas voter, see below), since an original signature is required.
