ANNUAL SCHOOL ELECTION

The election of Millburn Board of Education members now takes place during the November general election. As long as the school budget is under the state-mandated 2% cap, there is no longer an April school budget election.

Election of school board members will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.  The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Township residents who are interested in running for the Board of Education must submit their petitions to the County Clerk in Newark by the last Monday in July.

In order to be eligible to vote, residents must be at least 18 years old, be United States citizens, have been living in the state and county for 30 days, and have been registered to vote at least 21 days before the election.

TO REGISTER TO VOTE:
If you would like to receive a stamped, self-addressed mail voter registration form, please contact the Essex County Board of Elections.  You may also download the forms at http://www.essexclerk.com/Forms

VOTE BY MAIL:

In New Jersey, any voter can vote by mail. You do not need a reason to vote by mail. Don't feel like going to the polls? Simply vote by mail. Now there is no excuse not to vote!

As an Essex County resident, you may apply for a mail-in ballot if you are a qualified and registered voter by written application to the County Clerk's Office. The deadline for such requests is seven (7) days prior to any and all elections (Primary, General, Municipal, School, etc.). The voter may also apply in person to the Clerk's office, or by authorized messenger, on any day up to 3:00 P.M. the day before an election.

The County Clerk cannot accept faxed or e-mailed copies of the Vote by Mail Application (unless you are an overseas voter, see below), since an original signature is required.

What you must do

  • You may download a Vote by Mail Application, or pick one up in person at the Clerk's Office or from your local, municipal clerk; AND
  • Send completed application to PO Box 690, Newark, NJ 07101-0690; OR
  • Present the application in person at the Clerk's Office
