Earlier in the year it was announced that MHS Art students won an unprecedented 169 Awards in the 2025 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition for Region-at-large-East.  Consider that in 2023 we won 44 such awards and in 2024 we earned 94! Millburn. This is a record number of awards.   These wins are also more meaningful because this is the first year our school has competed in this large of a region; typically we compete only with other northern NJ counties.  However Region-at-large-East covers the entire Eastern US.

More firsts: this year we had more gold key winners than ever before, and for the first time in Millburn history, our students earned gold keys in the coveted portfolio category, with not just one, but four of our AP 2D art students earning that distinction.  Our total win encompasses work created in AP & Honors courses, to introductory level semester courses in every aspect of art from drawing & painting, digital art & graphic design, to crafts & sculpture.  We are SO proud of our students and the amazing teachers in our art department. The High School art staff include Katherine Reilly, Linda Kim, Vincent Dermody, Keeley Flack, Christine Benson Vos, and Jacklyn Hummer.

We invite you and our entire Millburn community to join us in applauding and celebrating our many winners this year and their amazing accomplishment.  A number of the award-winning works will be on view at our annual Youth Art Month Show, Thursday evening on March 6, from 5-8pm at the High School.  All are welcome to come and see with your own eyes what our students have achieved!
